Chemistry Services - Drug Identification
The Chemistry Section's primary responsibility is to analyze items of evidence for the presence or absence of Controlled Substances, or drugs.
All identifications are accomplished by performing at least two analytical examinations. This analysis may include:
- Thin Layer Chromatography
- Logo Identification of pharmaceutically-prepared tablets and capsules
- Ultraviolet Spectroscopy
- High Performance Liquid Chromatography
- Infrared Spectroscopy
- Raman Spectroscopy
- Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry
For every item of evidence that is analyzed, a chemist issues an Official Report.
