The Chemistry Section analyzes suspected drugs and fire debris, provides expert testimony, and educates law enforcement.

Examination of firearms and components, bullets and cartridge cases, distance determination tests, toolmarks, serial number restoration, filaments and NIBIN database.

Forensic Biology
The services of the Forensic Biology section are intended to assist the criminal justice system by providing timely scientific analysis of biological evidence

The Implied Consent Section oversees the state's breath alcohol testing program.

Latent Prints
Identification and comparison of fingerprints and AFIS database.

Medical Examiners
The Division of Forensic Sciences provides a complete service in Forensic Pathology under the authority of the Georgia Death Investigation Act.

Evidence receiving, entry into LIMS, evidence transport, and storage/disposition of evidence.

Photography
Photography services

Quality System
Ensures compliance with accreditation standards as well as DOFS quality standards.

Questioned Documents
Performs examination of documents, handwriting, mechanical impressions, and photography services.

Toxicology
The Division of Forensic Sciences (DOFS) Toxicology Section provides state and local law enforcement officials and medical examiners with vital information about human biological samples and specifically whether drugs, alcohol or poisons may have played a role in the commission of a crime or a death.

Trace Evidence
The Trace Evidence section analyzes evidence containing paint, plastic, hair, fiber, glass, fractured materials, general materials, footwear and tire impressions and gunshot residue.
